progeCAD 2027 Introduces Flexible Licensing for Easier Multi-Computer Use

progeCAD 2027 will introduce a new Flexible Licensing option designed for professionals and small teams who need to use progeCAD across more than one computer.

The new licensing model gives users more freedom to move their license between devices, while also bringing an update to how new Single Licenses work in progeCAD 2027.

Flexible Licensing is ideal for users who work from different locations, such as an office workstation and a home PC.

With a Flexible License, the license is connected to an online user profile. A license can be released from one computer and picked up on another when needed. An internet connection is required only when picking up or releasing the license. Once the license is active, progeCAD can continue working offline.

Flexible Licensing is useful for:

  • professionals who switch between office and home computers
  • small teams that share a limited number of active licenses
  • companies that want flexible access without setting up a local license server

For example, one user can release their license at the office and activate it again at home. A small studio can also share a set number of active licenses across more computers, as long as only the licensed number of users are running progeCAD at the same time.

Changes to new Single Licenses in progeCAD 2027

Starting with newly purchased progeCAD 2027 Single Licenses, each Single License will be activated on one computer at a time.

Moving the license to another computer will still be possible. The user simply releases the license during uninstall and then activates it again on the new machine.

This update helps make the licensing options clearer: Single Licenses are best suited for one main computer, while Flexible Licensing is available for users who need to move between multiple computers more often.

Existing customers keep their current license behavior

Customers who already own earlier versions of progeCAD will continue to use their licenses as before.

When an existing Single License is upgraded to progeCAD 2027, the current licensing behavior remains unchanged. This means the license can still be used according to the existing license terms, including activation on up to two computers for the same user, with only one copy in use at a time.

However, any brand-new progeCAD 2027 Single License will follow the new one-computer model. The same applies to additional new licenses purchased to expand an existing license pool.

Flexible Licensing and the updated Single License model will become available with the release of progeCAD 2027.

For customers who need easier access across several computers, Flexible Licensing offers a practical new option alongside the traditional Single License and Network License models.

Altova Version 2026 Release 2 Brings New AI Features to Developer and Data Tools

Altova Version 2026 Release 2 introduces new AI-powered functionality across several Altova products, helping users speed up XML development, data mapping, SQL editing, database design, and reporting workflows.

The update covers Altova MissionKit desktop developer tools, server software products, and Excel add-ins.

New Altova AI functionality

A key addition in v2026r2 is support for Altova AI features powered by the new Altova AI Server. This Altova-hosted AI service connects directly with supported Altova software products, making AI assistance available inside familiar tools.

In XMLSpy, Altova AI can help with XML development tasks such as creating sample documents with realistic data, generating XSLT and XQuery transformations, and assisting with other XML-related workflows.

In MapForce, Altova AI can help automatically create data mappings for ETL and data integration projects. This can make it easier to connect fields, process data, and build mappings more efficiently.

In DatabaseSpy, Altova AI provides smart assistance for SQL editing and database design tasks, helping users work more productively with databases.

Additional product updates

Altova Version 2026 Release 2 also includes several improvements across the product line, including updated XBRL standards support, compatibility with additional database and Eclipse versions, and usability improvements for Altova Server software.

StyleVision v2026r2 adds new Light and Dark modes, giving users more choice in how they work with the application interface.

The Altova XBRL add-ins for Excel have also been improved to make it easier to find and manage entity identifiers during report creation.

AI subscriptions

Altova AI functionality is available as an additional subscription for supported Altova products. Customers can choose a subscription tier based on their expected monthly AI usage, with usage quotas resetting each month.

An active Altova Support and Maintenance Package is required for Altova AI subscriptions.

Altova Version 2026 Release 2 is scheduled for release on May 27, 2026.

TechSmith Announces Update to Legacy License Subscription Pricing

TechSmith has announced an incremental price increase for active legacy license subscriptions for Camtasia, Snagit, and Camtasia Editor. The change will take effect on June 11, 2026, and applies to legacy subscription licenses purchased before February 12, 2025. According to TechSmith, the pricing adjustment is intended to support continued investment in security, quality, support, and product innovation. Whole Tomato Releases Visual Assist 2026.3 with Expanded Features

Whole Tomato has announced the release of Visual Assist 2026.3, bringing new AI-assisted development capabilities as well as performance, usability and stability improvements for users of the Visual Studio extension.

One of the main additions in Visual Assist 2026.3 is Change Code with AI, a new VA Intelligence feature that allows developers to select code, describe the changes they want in natural language, and review the proposed edits in a diff view before applying them. Whole Tomato Urges a Practical View of AI in the IDE, Especially for C++

Whole Tomato is taking a measured stance in the AI-for-developers debate. In its March 25, 2026 article, "AI in Your IDE: What’s Real, What’s Hype, and Where C++ Fits In," the company argues that AI tools are genuinely useful, but far from a replacement for engineering judgment.

The article highlights real benefits in areas like boilerplate generation, code explanation, test scaffolding, and documentation. But it pushes back on the more exaggerated promise of "vibecoding" - the idea that developers can simply describe software in plain language while AI handles the rest. Whole Tomato suggests that while this may help with fast prototypes, it becomes much riskier in large, performance-sensitive codebases.

That concern is especially relevant in C++. According to the piece, AI-generated C++ can look correct while still introducing memory issues, race conditions, undefined behavior, or other subtle problems. In systems programming, code that compiles is not necessarily code that is safe, efficient, or production-ready.

Rather than rejecting AI, Whole Tomato argues for a balanced workflow. AI can accelerate routine development tasks, but deterministic tools still matter - particularly in C++, where explainability, consistency, and precision are critical. That framing supports the company’s broader position that traditional code navigation, parsing, and refactoring tools should work alongside AI, not be replaced by it.

The bigger message is that the industry’s view of AI in the IDE is starting to mature. The conversation is shifting away from hype and toward practical use. For C++ developers, Whole Tomato’s point is clear: AI can help, but speed without scrutiny is not a serious engineering strategy.

Flashpoint Launches Its 2026 Global Threat Intelligence Report

Flashpoint has released its 2026 Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR), offering security leaders a clear view of the trends reshaping today’s threat landscape.

Built for teams across threat intelligence, vulnerability management, physical security, and the CISO’s office, the report draws on Flashpoint’s Primary Source Collection (PSC) to examine four converging forces driving cyber risk in 2026.

Among the report’s key findings is the growing role of agentic AI in cybercrime. Flashpoint recorded a 1,500% increase in AI-related illicit discussions between November and December 2025, highlighting how quickly threat actors are adopting AI to accelerate attack development and execution.

The report also shows how identity has become a primary target. In 2025, Flashpoint observed more than 11.1 million machines infected with infostealers, contributing to an underground market of 3.3 billion stolen credentials and cloud tokens.

At the same time, the window between vulnerability disclosure and exploitation is shrinking. Flashpoint found that disclosures rose by 12% in 2025, while 33% of vulnerabilities had publicly available exploit code, increasing the pressure on defenders to move faster.

The report also tracks the continued evolution of extortion. As organizations improve defenses against encryption-based attacks, ransomware groups are increasingly exploiting human trust instead. Flashpoint links that shift to a 53% rise in ransomware activity, with Ransomware-as-a-Service groups accounting for more than 87% of attacks.

Together, these trends point to a threat landscape that is more connected, automated, and fast-moving than ever before.

As Flashpoint Co-Founder and CEO Josh Lefkowitz says, "In 2026, cybercrime has reached a point of total convergence, where the silos that once separated malware, identity, and infrastructure have consolidated into a single, high-velocity threat engine - that agentic AI is rapidly transforming from human-led campaigns to machine-speed operations." -Backed by intelligence from the open, deep, and dark web, the 2026 GTIR gives security teams the insight they need to better anticipate emerging threats and strengthen defenses for the year ahead.

RAD Studio 13.1 focuses on platform support and developer workflow

Embarcadero has released RAD Studio 13.1, a practical update to RAD Studio 13 Florence that adds support for new platforms and improves everyday development workflows. The biggest addition is Delphi support for Windows on Arm, giving developers a new native target for modern Windows devices. The release also updates mobile support with newer Android and iOS platform compatibility, which is important for teams maintaining store-ready applications. Beyond platform updates, RAD Studio 13.1 brings several useful IDE and framework improvements. These include better code navigation through DelphiLSP enhancements, integrated bookmarks, improved High DPI handling, new Windows 11 VCL styles, and the first release of a new FireMonkey Style Designer. Sencha unveils Ext JS 8.0 with focus on modernization and easier upgrades

Sencha has introduced Ext JS 8.0 as a major update designed to help enterprise teams modernize existing applications without major disruption. Corel to split as Vector Capital affiliate buys Corel business

Corel Corporation is set to transition into two independent companies, Corel and Parallels, according to a message sent to Parallels partners. The change is intended to place Parallels "more firmly in the spotlight," the company said, allowing it to focus more tightly on its product portfolio while pursuing faster innovation and long-term growth. As part of the transition, Parallels said an affiliate of Vector Capital has signed an agreement to acquire the Corel business. Parallels will remain under KKR’s ownership, continuing as part of KKR’s portfolio of companies. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of this year, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Parallels told partners it does not anticipate disruption to routine operations during the transition and said it does not expect partners to take any action. The company added that day-to-day engagement with partners should remain the same, while offering additional context through an internal FAQ. Citrix moves to new cloud-based licensing model

Citrix announced on September 2025 that it will transition from traditional file-based licensing to a new License Activation Service (LAS) solution. All customers using file-based licensing must make this transition by April 15, 2026, after which the old licensing model will no longer work.
